Hotels &
Accommodation

We update the list of hotels regularly to make sure it is as up-to-date as possible. We recommend booking accommodation as soon as possible, as it is limited in Oaxaca, and November is a popular period.

Please note, booking before November 3rd will be difficult due to Day of the Dead celebrations. If you are looking to experience Day of the Dead and arrive before the 3rd November, please contact us, we have secured accommodation in the City and can assist you.

For Airbnb's and villa rentals, or if you would like a personal recommendation, we encourage you to reach out directly to our organiser Gabriela Casas, who knows Oaxaca's accommodation scene better than anyone and can guide you to the right option.

If you find somewhere not listed, feel free to ask us about it. Oaxaca has a great deal of varied accommodation in different areas.

HOTEL

LOS PILARES

A 17th-century colonial house transformed into a boutique hotel in the neighbourhood of Jalatlaco - one of Oaxaca's most beautiful and characterful barrios, with cobblestone streets, brightly coloured walls, and a quieter pace of life than the centre. The plant-filled patio and terrace are designed as a small urban oasis - the kind of place where a mezcal at sunset feels like the only reasonable thing to do. There is also a plunge pool and jacuzzi, and a brunch menu served à la carte until mid-afternoon. For guests who want a little distance from the bustle of the centre and a genuinely neighbourhood feel, this is one of the most appealing options on the list.

Note: a 15-20 minute walk from Santo Domingo - taxis are easy and inexpensive.

Guests consistently describe leaving feeling like they are saying goodbye to close friends. A five-minute walk from Santo Domingo and ten minutes from the Zócalo.

HOTEL LA CASONA OAXACA

The building dates to 1896, when it opened as the Hotel Francia during the Porfiriato — a period of cultural flourishing that made Oaxaca one of the most celebrated destinations in Mexico. Among its notable guests was the English writer D.H. Lawrence, who stayed in room 218 in 1925 and wrote some of his most important work during his time here. Today, the property has been restored as a boutique hotel with rooms ranging from standard doubles to junior suites, all within a block of the Zócalo. A wonderful choice for guests who want history beneath their feet and the city at their door.
